spring break

SPRING BREAK!!!  Yikes!  Thank God it's spring break!  After a couple of hard core exams I am glad to be home and hanging out with the family.  Nicole just got back from her Ecuador trip last night (I was eternally jealous of her) and she told me everything about the village and how things are going down there which, overall, sounded great.
This spring break will be pretty tame for me.  I need to find a summer job, catch up on some reading, and organize my life a little.  For all those college basketball lover....eh emm, Zukes, its MARCH MADNESS and UConn is right in the thick of things.  Woot Woot!

So based on the most recent blog posts, it sounds kinda like all of Europe is in party...probably right.  Spring fevor in Europe!  Well my friends, the next time you have a drink in hand, raise it to the sky for me and remember your good ol' American friends trapped back on the island.

Ok people, enough of this lame...sorry i haven't updated the blog guys poopy, YOU GUYS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!!!!  I HAVE LOVED THE POSTS.  Everytime I go on the Internet the first thing I do is check my "blog tab" that I have set up and scourge for new posts!!!  I throw on my head phone, play some pimp music, and leave Oberline for 20 mintues...its amazing!  Don't forget, although it is important for us back home to see and read about what you are doing, DON'T YOU DARE LET IT INTERFERE WITH THE EXPERIENCES YOU SHOULD BE HAVING!!  Live first, blog next.  I think the ratio of blog entries you three have put out (Zukes, Mike and Ben) has been perfect.  They leave me craving more!  Once a week or even every two weeks is great!  Mike, I especially liked you last post about differences in Spain...I almost fell off my chair laughing because everything you've said is true.  Zukes, I'm so glad things are straightening out for you...I thought it would just be a matter of time and I suspect things will only get better!

Stay Strong my Traveling Friends!

End of Winter Term :(

As the days of my relaxing Winter Term wind down I cringe to think that the real work is right around the corner again (Monday!).  It has been very nice this past week to have only one swim practice a day, while spending the rest of the day doing what ever I want...aka baking massive chocolate chip banana bread cakes (which I've gotten pretty good at and when everyone is back in the summer I will bake up a few of them and we will have a feast), watching movies (Starwars, Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Wall-E, Benjamin Button...), reading lots of pleasure read books, and just hanging out and getting to know the people on my team better.

Well, that's all over soon...

Yesterday we partook in a swim team tradition that supposedly has been around since the '70's......"Swamp Rat" -(which I keep accidentally calling Sewer Rat!! --whoops!)

Anyways, you dress up in your most hideous clothing and go bowling at the campus bowling ally.  It was a blast and I dazzled everyone with my "curve ball" that I developed last summer while spending WAY to many hours at Laurel Lanes!  Needless to say, I picked out my afro which got some serious looks while I walked across campus to the bowling ally...

Hopefully all you travelers can find a tv that is playing the Super B this weekend.  I remember it was quite an experience watching it last year in Costa Rica at a bar right on the beach (not to mention the fact that my Giants won beautifully).  Although there is no way last year can be topped, it is still worth it to seek out a place to watch this American tradition -- beware though, don't expect to get the same crazy commercials that I will be getting in the States.  I want to know if ya'll do get them cause I had some shitty commercials last year...unsatisfying!

Well, I am going to go eat at the dining hall and try to get a head start on some second semester reading in my room.

Stay strong zukes, things will turn around...it's early, ask Ben about that.

As for you Ben, sounds like you found a great think with the Rugby...I remember I found a group of Spaniard to play basketball with in Salamanca on weekends and it was one of the best things that happened to me...keep that up!

Miguelito--- WRITE IN YOUR BLOGG!!  or else I will send you a virtual blog terd an post it in your blog!!!  This must mean that you're having a blast though, so I will take that as good news.

Salud a todos!

YESSS! I HAVE A BLOG TOO!!

All this blogging has made me think... why can't I join in the frenzy of blog-happy travelers.  Sure, I mean, the most obvious difference is that I am stuck here on my bum in Oberlin, Ohio (currently 16 degrees w/o windchill), with no real challenges except how I am going to survive my next swim practice and how I will get to the dining hall without letting the snot freeze inside my nose.  But, WHO CARES!!  I want a blog and I want it now!  Oooo, this is kind of satisfying, to be able to just write and rant about whatever I want.

Well, let's give some current life events.  I just heated up some chicken stir fry that I stored from lunch yesterday in the bowl that Ben gave me for my dorm room (I think/hope it's microwaveable safe!).  I might do a little light reading and writing for my journal project today.  Oh yea!  Really important, I have to find my room key, which I conveniently lost last night!!

Ugh, the trials and tribulations of a college kid!
